Review - The Pill Gates Profit Principles
January 7th, 2008 by admin
I’ve bought a lot of informational products online over the past few years in search of that magic bullet. I’m having the hardest time getting rid of the fantasy that there really is a magic bullet hiding in internet marketing. When you have that mentality, you set yourself up for failure every single time. I know, I’m living proof of it.
When I came across the Pill Gates Profit Principles, again I got my hopes up. Hell, I don’t even know how I found it. But I saved it in my bookmarks for several months. If you check out the sales page, it’s pretty drab. Really no graphics. And if you scroll to the bottom, you’ll see that it’s less than 10 bucks. You may wonder why I didn’t just buy it when I visited the site. As a stay-at-home mom of two who helps her husband run a landscaping business as well as homeschooling the kids on top of running a part-time Myspace graphics design business and having every day tasks and expenses, the funds tend to go everywhere but my internet marketing venture. Unfortunately, it takes a backseat to everything else.
Yesterday, I made enough money to buy a $200 Super Pen Tablet for my graphics business and had enough to fork over the 10 bucks for the Pill Gates Profit Principles ebook. Naturally, I was excited about getting access to the book. I was let down by the fact that it was only 34 pages long. But what can you expect for less than the cost of buying McDonald’s for a family of 4?
As it turns out, the ebook is a fairly quick and easy read that is pretty much Jo Han Mok’s interview with “Pill Gates”. Of course, that’s not the guy’s real name, but who cares? As long as the ebook delivers its promises, right?
Well, the first 6 pages was about how Pill started in internet marketing. He had the same hopeful beliefs that everyone has when they first start out. He thought all you had to do was promote a product through affiliate marketing and then you’d get flooded with money in your bank. Of course, he learned the hard way that it doesn’t work like that. In fact, Pill spent $10,000 on PPC ads and only made $200+. Nothing to be proud of.
Then the ebook talks about how he was overweight and had talked to a doctor who introduced him to Hoodia. Apparently, that’s what changed his life. He lost weight because of it and decided to learn more about the health industry. He decided to advertise his product on Google and spent $80 on advertising costs. Profit after a month? $230. That may not seem like much but compared to his $10,000 oops, $230 is a lot of money that gave him the hope he needed to continue.
When reading the ebook, I noticed that Jo Han boxed “important” principles, many of which seemed like common sense to me.
If you go back and read the sales letter, you would get the feeling that anyone can do what Pill Gates did in the comfort of their own home. You’ll notice the “proof” of income that this guy makes that would make anybody, especially newbie internet marketers like me, drool excessively. But when you read the ebook, you’ll see that he’s a multimillionaire now because he actually has a real lab and a team of scientists that create drug formulations. He’s also got a fulfillment center that houses these drugs and ships worldwide to wholesalers, distributors, and regular clients. You can’t exactly have that running from your garage at home.
Pill does mention a few simple marketing tactics for gaining and keeping customers. Afterall, you want to keep your customers coming back to buy more from you, right? Makes sense.
After reading the ebook, I was left feeling as empty as I did before I bought it. Unfortunately, the ebook doesn’t tell you how to get into the health supplement business. Pill Gates talks about how he can be your dropshipper so you can just take orders from your customers and send the orders to get fulfilled by his company. However, he doesn’t give any contact information, not even a website or email address to set up a dropshipping account. The ebook doesn’t tell you how to get started, it doesn’t tell you how to set up a website, nor does it tell you how to get in contact with suppliers.
After buying the ebook, I would say that I don’t recommend it. Yes, it cost less than a Mcdonalds dinner. But I would have much rather spent the 10 bucks on Happy Meals for my 2 kids. At least, I know they were happy and fed. Check it out yourself and let me know what you think.
