Small Business Websites - Creating Your Pages
January 2nd, 2008 by admin
If you want your web site to be taken seriously, you must have content pages that cover the subject matter in your keywords, and to start a new site, I suggest 10 new pages, all linked from main menus on the home page. On these pages, you want to pay attention to the details I have listed below.
First, decide what your 10 core pages are going to be: (This could be less than 10, but at least five pages should be in place before you advertise the site).
1._______________________________________________________
2._______________________________________________________
3._______________________________________________________
4._______________________________________________________
5._______________________________________________________
6._______________________________________________________
7._______________________________________________________
8._______________________________________________________
9._______________________________________________________
10.______________________________________________________
On each page, try to be sure to include the following:
1. Several paragraphs of great content, or information that cannot be found on other sites all over the web. You can write the content yourself, or have someone write it for you, but it is vital that you include real, informative substance in these pages.
2. Pictures: Pictures do not always help your site get noticed by search engine robots, but they definitely help you capture (and keep) your visitors glued to your content. A picture really is worth a thousand words, so a good rule of thumb is: Text for the search engines, graphics for your audience.
3. Links: It is not necessary, but is helpful, if you have information on a page that pertains to something else on the site, to link to that page within your text. It makes it easier for your visitor to find good information, and also strengthens your content. It is also okay to link out to other good sites. Do not be afraid of losing your visitor. He will come back if you have good content!
